So many ideas so little time.

Lately I have not been updating my blog as much as I would like. I have been working on many ideas and projects that I have not updated to the blog. The stairs that I built for Brad have been turned over to him so that he may do the woodwork and some more planning on how he wants certain elements. The Wankel Bell has been approved ! That means its time to get started rounding up donations and refining the plan. The Super Kiln is well under way with Randall installing the heating elements and the insulation pieces. I have had several ideas to better the remaining parts needed for the kiln and a full 3D rendering should be completed by the end of this weekend. A local steel yard Glaser steel has enlisted my help on improving a kettle corn machine for one of their valued customers as well as requesting that I figure out how to cut 7' lengths of pipe down the center length wise at a rate of at least three lengths per hour for a separate project. Cutting the pipe length wise led me to re open the design for my super cutting and fabrication table. This table holds several tools and provides a stable working platform with any luck it will be operational by the end of the week although due to its complexity the end product may not be finished for a while. Detailed descriptions and images on some projects by weeks end.

The fire suit arives

Randall has ordered the electric heating elements and the fire suit for the super kiln. The first stage, up and running is close at hand. Once the coils and top are in place a few tests will be conducted to observe the function of the kiln and the glass inside. The rotating wok at the top of the kiln is next to complete before these test can be run. The final element of the super kiln is the most complex. The design must be flawless the travel is over four feet and operates in an environment of over 1700 degrees. This final element is by any assessment "Fancy" and may take a while so until then a mostly functioning kiln will allow fun with glass and development toward design of the final piece.

Experimenting with the Web

Lately I have been busy uploading all sorts of content to the web. Images of my projects are on my archive site, descriptions are on my home page and I have also up loaded some of my 3D Models to the google 3D Warehouse. I am happy with the results so far and hope to refine these sites and my process to better display the projects I've completed and concepts that are in the works.

Concrete Jungle

The Concrete Jungle is participating in this years HBA home show and I am building several things to help fill out the booth. A display for flat samples and three basses for various tables. The display is made from steel and wood, designed to be expandable in order to fit different size samples . The bases for the tables and sinks are made from steel some of it salvaged and cleaned for a more rustic look.

Images

Lately I have been updating my image archive with new material and adding more material to existing albums. One of the most recently added albums is "Hand Sketches" which is several pages of scanned in sketches. I am not sure if I like the scanned sketches yet so they may not last. Other projects including a massive set of stairs I did with the Concrete Jungle. Some albums also contain in progress images taking you behind the scenes Enjoy.
